On Friday, July 19, 2024, at 4 PM, after Jummah prayers, residents of Banshree in the capital erupted in protest against the killing of students in a building under construction adjacent to Rampura Police Station in Meredia Bazar, Rampura. A section of Banshree residents moved towards Rampura Bridge, while another section took a position at the end of Banshree, near Meredia Bazar, on the road leading to Banshree Ideal School-Demra Staff Quarters Road, and up to South Banshree Road (10-storey road) in front of Rampura Police Station.

At one point, without any warning, APBn, BGB, and police forces suddenly opened fire with LMGs and Chinese rifles, without using tear gas, rubber bullets, or sound grenades. Many protesters fell to the ground and died from the gunfire. The local people became even more enraged by this and chased the BGB and police into various alleys, surrounding Rampura Police Station from five sides.

Unable to withstand the continuous gunfire from the APBn, BGB, and police in front of the police station, several teenagers climbed into a four-story building under construction adjacent to the main road near the police station. When the BGB and police managed to control the police station area, a few police officers climbed into the same building.

While everyone else was able to leave, this teenager was trapped in the building. He tried to hide by climbing down the side of the four-story roof, but as soon as he was spotted, two police officers fired six rounds from their revolvers, killing the teenager."
