Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement

Press Release

Date: July 29, 2024

Announcement of New Program

Dear Citizens and Students,

We express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made today's protests and student assemblies successful across the country. We also thank the teachers, journalists, intellectuals, professionals, workers, and the general public for their solidarity with the Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement.

Given the government's brutal repression and disregard for our justified demands, we urge everyone to participate in tomorrow's program by taking and sharing photos with red cloths covering your face and eyes as a symbol of protest.

Program:

Take and share photos with red cloths covering your face and eyes.

We demand the government accept our nine-point demands and bring stability to the country.

Demands:

  1. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina must publicly apologize for student and citizen killings.
  2. Resignation of key ministers responsible for violence and digital crackdown.
  3. Dismissal of police officials responsible for student deaths.
  4. Resignation of VCs and proctors where peaceful protests were attacked.
  5. Arrest and prosecution of those who ordered and carried out violence against students.
  6. Compensation for the families of deceased and injured students.
  7. Ban on political student organizations and implementation of student unions.
  8. Reopening of all educational institutions and withdrawal of curfew and deployed forces.
  9. Assurance of no academic or administrative harassment for movement participants and release of arrested coordinators.

We request the support and solidarity of all citizens in achieving our demands.
